Monticello, NY—The PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program (PRASAD CDHP) is a recipient of the 2011 New York State Dental Foundation (NYSDF) Give Kids a Smile Award. In this photo, Executive Director Laura Leon, and President Dr. Robert Doherty, DDS, of the NYS Dental Foundation, present the Give Kids A Smile Award to Dr. M. Cecilia Escarra of PRASAD CDHP.
The award was inspired by the American Dental Association’s Give Kids A Smile Day campaign. Each year, the NYSDF presents the award to a community health center or service program that seeks to build, expand or enhance education, access and/or capacity with respect to oral health care for children.
Dr. Gary Berson, DDS, nominated PRASAD CDHP for the award, saying “With my high regard for PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program, I hope I have adequately expressed how it has set high standards of oral health care and quality; how it has been an innovator in oral health care delivery, improving outcomes in our community; how it has demonstrated leadership and advocacy that is moving New York State in new directions to meet the oral health needs of our children.”
At the recent presentation ceremony, NYSDF Executive Director Laura Leon first reviewed the criteria for the Give Kids A Smile Award -
- Who is setting higher standards of oral health care and quality to better meet the challenges of the future?
- Who is driving innovation in oral health care delivery and improving oral health outcomes within our communities?
- Who is demonstrating the type of leadership and advocacy that is moving New York State in new directions to meet the oral health care needs of children?
- Does the potential nominee target education, screening and prevention, and access objectives in its parameters?
and then noted, “The very clear answer to all of these questions is, PRASAD CDHP!’“
In accepting the award, Dr. Cecilia Escarra, PRASAD CDHP Program Administrator said, “Thank you to the NYSDF for the award and to Senator Bonacic, Assemblywoman Gunther, and the Town of Fallsburg for the recognition.
