PRASAD Chikitsa Hosts Women’s Day Events

Tansa Valley, India—Throughout March, in observation of Women’s Day, PRASAD Chikitsa hosted over a dozen women’s programs relating to health screenings, environmental awareness, income-generating activities and entertainment.

On March 4, The Anukampaa Health Center offered educational talks and free screenings for cervical and breast cancer, as well as dental and ear, nose and throat screenings. The event drew 315 women!

PRASAD and the Family Planning Association of India also held a cervical cancer screening event at PRASAD’s Family Health Center on March 8. It was attended by 270 women — so many that doctors have scheduled a second one in April.

On March 8, the open house at PRASAD’s Gurudev Siddha Peeth Netrachikitsa Eye Hospital was originally scheduled to end at 12:30 p.m., but so many women arrived that organizers extended the hours to 3 p.m. All 188 women were eager to have their eyes examined and they received free medicine as needed. They also listened intently as doctors gave talks on preventive and general eye care.

On March 11, at one of the many motivational events for Self-Help Groups, a teacher from Budhavali Village was inspired to make an impromptu speech. He said, “I feel grateful to Prasad Chikitsa because they have reached inaccessible areas and are working for our homes and our village women. Our good wishes are always with them.”

PRASAD is working hard to improve the lives of women and families in communities throughout the Tansa Valley. We invite you to show your support by making a donation.

Greater demand for dental clinic
By Lori Chung, YNN

“With dental care hard to come by for many children in Sullivan County, New York, one clinic is fighting to keep up with demand.” As Lori Chung reports, we are hoping to raise more support to increase access for kids in need.
