Mexico—More than a thousand years ago, the Olmecas built the ceremonial city of Teotihuacan, perched on the highest plateau above the quiet village of Santa Maria Acatlan. There, during “El Día Del Niño,” or Children’s Day, Prasad de Mexico held an Eye Camp for children.
Nestled at the base of Teotihuacan, Prasad de Mexico collaborated with the Association to Prevent Blindness in Mexico, and La Gran Clinica de Especialidades de Teotihuacan, to provide corrective surgery for children suffering from strabismus (crossed eyes).
Among the 87 children receiving surgery, were two siblings whose young mother told the doctor, “today will not be only Children’s Day but Mothers’ Day too, because it will be the happiest day of my life”
