Two Rotary Clubs reach across two continents to raise funds for PRASAD’s HIV/AIDS Program

The total gift of $40,000 will go toward the care and treatment of the hundreds of adults and children served by The PRASAD Project’s acclaimed HIV/AIDS Testing and Counseling Program, located in the Family Health Center.

Alok Mohatta of the Rotary Club of Bombay Queen City, India and Dr. Chengutta K. “CK” Dheenan of Rotary Club of Rockville, Maryland led the effort, supported by Rotarians in the US and India. They worked closely with PRASAD Project Trustee, Jyotika Patel and PRASAD Chikitsa Trustee, Udayan Bhat, who provided resource support and detailed program information.

Rotarians
Their kindness knows no bounds—Rotarians from Rockville, Maryland, USA and Bombay Queen City, India, reached across two continents to raise $40,000 for PRASAD Chikitsa’s HIV/AIDS Program. Pictured left to right are Rockville, Maryland Rotarians Eileen McGuckian, Dr. CK Dheenan and Alan Tetervin.

Alok Mohatta and CK Dheenan negotiated an extensive series of meetings, fundraisers and organizational tasks before securing approval from their respective Rotary Clubs, District Rotary Clubs and, ultimately, from The Rotary Foundation of India and The Rotary Foundation (USA).

CK, a retired physician, was Project Coordinator for the Rotary of Rockville, Maryland, supported by Club President, Frances Tetervin; Rockville Rotary Club Foundation President, Eileen McGuckian; and fellow Rotarian, Alan Tetervin. “We could not have achieved our Club goal without the remarkable support of hard-working volunteers and generous donors from California to Washington, DC,” said CK.

There are 33,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide, whose members give their time, funds and expertise for the betterment of the world. Alok Mohatta and CK Dheenan personify the Rotarian motto, Service above Self, in completing this global, humanitarian fundraising project.
