Everyone Wins at PRASAD Chikitsa 4th Annual Well-Baby Competition
The Annual Prasad Chikitsa Well-Baby Competition is a health care initiative designed to improve the health of families and communities over time, and it offers something for everyone; the judges have the pleasure of evaluating each child on general health, nutrition, hygiene, personal growth and social development, while proud parents learn more about preventive health care and enjoy compliments for their fine parenting skills.
The private health exams offer doctors a window to each child’s general health and a chance to identify and address evidence of illness, malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies. The nutritional evaluation includes a comparison to standardized age/weight correlations.
The judges also review age-related milestones that indicate mental and physical growth; for example, a 1-year-old child should be at least able to stand with support, if not walk independently.
During the social development evaluation, which is held in a group setting, the judges observe how the children interact with their peers and adults, and how they respond to various stimuli.
The parents’ health talk covers nutrition, vaccinations, hygiene, home remedies and specific counseling for any parent whose child does not seem to be in good health.
“The
involvement of the parents in the competition was very encouraging and
reassuring. The enthusiasm of the children and the parents augers well
for the future generation of Tansa Valley,” said Col. Rohit, general
manager of PRASAD Chikitsa.
Winners of the 4th Annual Prasad Chikitsa Well-Baby Competition include Purva Thakkar, first place; Pranav Patil and Aadesh Vilat, second place and Mohit Ghatal, third place. All of the children received dolls, toys and other prizes.
We thank the judges, Dr. Jadhav, (a visiting ENT specialist) PRASAD Chikitsa’s own Dr. Pandey, and Mrs. Saheli Bandopadhyay, Principal of the National English School, Kudus, and we thank you, our donors for making this annual tradition possible.
