Today, the Gurudev Siddha Peeth Netra Chikitsa Hospital has an in-patient ward with 25 beds, and an outpatient clinic with the latest eye care equipment. Doctors usually perform cataract surgery on an outpatient basis, and the in-patient ward is available to ensure that patients get the post-operative care they need for a full recovery.
PRASAD’s outreach program plays a crucial role in ensuring that inhabitants of the valley get proper eye care. Our volunteers travel throughout the valley and conduct eye screenings daily and cataract camps once a week.
Between 2000 and 2009, PRASAD volunteers visited 206,800 houses and reached 973,000 people. They have also held 236 screening camps involving about 50,375 patients. As with other PRASAD health care programs, treatment is free to those who cannot afford payment. Patients who can afford to do so pay a nominal fee.
