Initially, PRASAD established partnerships with various health care and government organizations in Mexico to assist the thousands of individuals there suffering from cataracts. In 1996, PRASAD de México was founded and began to sponsor eye camps in rural areas in Mexico. By June, 2012 PRASAD de México had held 151 eye camps.
PRASAD de México also has provided hundreds of children with specialized surgery to correct strabismus, a physical defect commonly called cross-eyed. In this condition, improperly aligned eyes cause limited or blurred vision, or complete loss of vision. After surgery, children who had been teased and ostracized at school now have the chance to lead productive lives.
