Education

Primary School
In the Award/Education Program, PRASAD Chiktisa staff members give awards to children, encouraging the children to work hard and emphasizing the importance of education. PRASAD also distributes materials such as textbooks, notebooks, pens, and pencils to children of under-privileged families.

Scholarship Program
The Scholarship Program helps students to finish the Intermediate level (grades 11-12) and to go on to college. Students apply for the scholarships to pursue courses in fields such as information technology, nursing, engineering, homeopathy and horticulture. Since the program began in 1991, PRASAD has awarded scholarships to more than 645 students. By 2010, this program gained a measure of sustainability, as graduates of the program began offering donations, becoming teachers themselves, and participating on interview panels for future scholars.

Career Guidance
Many students are unaware of the educational opportunities available to them. PRASAD regularly conducts guidance camps and training programs to help students make informed choices.

Arts and Crafts Program
PRASAD Chikitsa also helps young people in the Tansa Valley find vocations that are rooted in the local culture. PRASAD began the Kalakendra Arts & Crafts Program in 1998, to preserve the cultural heritage of the Tansa Valley region. It provides the youth with opportunities for self-expression and employment.
