Sometimes we take clean water for granted. The World Health Organization estimates that 97 million Indians lack access to safe water today. As a result, 21% of communicable diseases in India are related to unsafe water. In our area of service in the Tansa Valley many families do not have access to clean water and they suffer from waterborne diseases like cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and hepatitis.

In 2015 PRASAD Chikitsa launched a clean drinking water initiative, providing home water filters and educating the people about the importance of clean water. These filters are easy to use and they make the water safe to consume. In the first year PRASAD Chikitsa distributed 294 filters.

Mrs. Agda stated, “My children were constantly becoming ill from the water and I worried about them greatly. We are very poor and never imagined we could afford to buy a water filter. Now, we have clean water and my family no longer suffers.”

Warmly,
The PRASAD Project
