A Story of Healing

Mental health is often an invisible struggle, one that many face in silence. Receiving proper care and support is crucial for healing. This is Shanta’s story, before your support turned her life around. At 37, Shanta’s world was shattered when her husband, her partner in life, passed away unexpectedly.
Overcome by severe depression, she couldn’t find the strength to work, let alone manage day-to-day life. With no children to care for and no energy to function, she moved back into her father’s house. The grief weighed heavily on her, and simple tasks, like getting out of bed or making a meal, felt impossible.
However, everything changed when she visited the Psychiatry Department at PRASAD Chikitsa Hospital. After a thorough evaluation, she began treatment for depression, which set her on a path toward healing.

Over the past year, what once seemed impossible—regaining energy, feeling hopeful, and re-engaging with life—became her reality. Slowly, Shanta regained her confidence and, for the first time in years, found the strength to return to work on her father’s farm. She even started attending social events in her village and taking an active interest in household chores.
“I felt lost, hopeless, and completely alone, But PRASAD Chikitsa gave me the care and strength I need. This psychiatry service is a blessing for people like me living in rural areas. They have not only treated my condition but also helped me reclaim my life.” – Shanta
