Project Description

Disaster Relief

As part of its mission to help communities in distress, The PRASAD Project responds to natural disasters within our service area by providing food, shelter, medical supplies and emergency services. Over time, we continue to support recovery efforts by helping survivors and those affected to rebuild their lives.

When disaster strikes beyond our service area, The PRASAD Project responds by partnering with international disaster relief organizations to provide aid to those people affected.

Mexico Earthquake Disaster Relief

A powerful 8.4 earthquake rocked central Mexico on September 19th, collapsing buildings and bridges across hundreds of miles. According to the Mexico National Seismological Service, this earthquake is the most intense in at least a century. More than 85,000 homes in Oaxaca y Chiapas were affected by the earthquake, according to reports from state and federal authorities in Mexico.

The PRASAD Project is supporting disaster relief for the communities affected by this earthquake. The funds collected by The PRASAD Project will be forwarded to the PRASAD de México team, which will coordinate with local organizations to help rebuild damaged houses in rural areas of Mexico. Since 1996 PRASAD de México’s volunteer team has performed free eye surgery for adults and children.
